What is Malic Acid?
Malic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that the cells of your body make naturally every day. It was first discovered in apples in the 1700s.
How Does it Work?
Malic acid is derived from fruits and is a natural chemical exfoliant with a large molecular structure that gently peels the topmost skin layers to expose new skin cells making your skin appear more even, healthy, smooth and firmer.
How It Improves Acne.
Given that Malic acid exfoliates and breaks down dead skin it helps to clear clogged pores and control acne.
Why Does our AHA Contain Malic Acid?
Sebum is a natural oil found in sweat in the skin which forms a thin layer that acts as a protective barrier against environmental pollutants and it prevents moisture loss from your skin. While the majority of Alpha Hydroxy Acids disrupt this pH balance, the Malic acid included in our Pure Skin Serums product restores the balance.
How Malic Acid Reduces Wrinkles and Promotes Anti-Ageing
Malic acid promotes skin cell turnover, which in turn promotes collagen production. (Collagen is a fibrous protein that “holds” skin cells together and naturally decreases with age.) This is why you will commonly find Malic Acid as an ingredient in anti-ageing skincare products and is another reason why Pure Skin Serums uses only the purest form of Malic Acid possible in our product.
